On the eve of the Christmas holiday, a painting by the late Edward Hopper is set to be displayed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
The painting, titled Jesus, is on view through Dec. 31.
It is Hopper’s first painting to go on display.
The artist was a prolific painter, known for creating stunning, life-like landscapes.
Hopper, the son of a former Baptist minister and a former art dealer, spent his final years in a nursing home.
He died at the age of 88 in 2012.
In an interview with ABC News’ Diane Sawyer in 2015, Hopper told Sawyer that he wanted to show people that they could be art without a high-school diploma.
Hoppers first paintings are not on view until Feb. 14.
The paintings are on view at the Museum of Modern Art, New York.
